So the obvious gift for a book lover is a book
but if your book lover is more of a picky reader, like I am, then buying a book itself can actually be a flop. So what do you buy your book lover?
1. Book cart
I absolutely love my book cart. But what is the difference between a book cart and bookshelf? Wheels. But also, it’s cuter and a nice way to keep someone’s favorite reads close together. Plus, it adds an extra touch of decor to the room. I got this one in white, but in real life it’s more like a cream.
2. Merch from their favorite book
If you know your book lover’s favorite book and it’s popular enough that there’s merch, it would make the perfect gift. For example, a My Year of Rest and Relaxation tee. or this ‘written by Ottessa Moshfegh’ tote from Redbubble.
3. Movie tickets for the latest book-to-screen adaptation of a book they just read
If you know one of your book, lover’s favorite books that’s being made into a movie, take them for a night out to see it. I’m looking forward to seeing Nightbitch for example, though I just saw a pretty negative review for it #yikes.
4. Book light
For those nights when you want the light off but they want the light on. With a book light like this one they’ll be able to read in bed without disturbing anyone else.
5. Book tote bag
A book themed tote so they can tote those books everywhere they go…in bookish style.
6. Book store gift card
So they can actually, physically skim through the pages before committing. Like this one my husband got me for Barnes and Noble.
7. The latest book by your book lover’s favorite author or the new memoir of a celebrity they like
Because even if they don’t like it they were definitely eyeing it and now their curiosity is satisfied! And memoirs like I’m Glad my Mom Died or The Woman in Me will be no fail if they’re familiar with these public figures.
8. A book-smelling candle
Because who says no to a candle? And one that smells like books at that.
